Anywhere-to-Anywhere automated conversions between Physical Servers, Virtual Machines, and Server Archives. The evolution of PowerP2V. PlateSpin PowerConvert is a fully automated Operating System Portability™ solution enabling the complete interchange of data, applications, and operating systems across Intel infrastructure in the data center, breaking the dependency between hardware infrastructure and server software.
PlateSpin PowerConvert
PlateSpin® PowerConvert™ is a powerful, fully automated OS Portability™ solution that enables the complete interchange of data, applications, and operating systems (the software layer) across Intel infrastructure in the data center, breaking the dependency between hardware infrastructure and server software.
PlateSpin PowerConvert's OS Portability technology enables the flexibility to best match software and applications with the hardware infrastructure unique to your data center, all from a single point of control. Freely move the software layer in any direction, between any physical server, virtual server, or image, without ever having to be in physical contact with the source or target machines.
PlateSpin PowerConvert is available in 3 different configurations, each designed to migrate the software layer between physical servers, virtual machines, and server archives in different combinations, to meet the unique needs of your data center:
PlateSpin PowerRecon
Agentless Performance and Resource Monitoring Measure resources and server performance from a single view from any location, making capacity planning, server consolidation, and ongoing infrastructure optimization easier and quicker.
PlateSpin®PowerRecon™ is a resource measurement, data collection, and analysis tool designed to accelerate capacity planning for server consolidation projects. PlateSpin PowerRecon remotely gathers inventory information about server hardware such as operating system, CPU speed, memory, network, and disk on Windows NT, 2000, and 2003 systems.
With PlateSpin PowerRecon, you can manage data center efficiency better by viewing resource utilization in real-time with the graphical charting tool. Historical views display usage over time to identify trends for better planning and optimization. Create customized views and formulas to display the data that is most relevant to the unique needs of your data center.
PlateSpin PowerRecon remotely measures CPU, network, disk, and memory resources from a single console, without the use of software agents.

PowerConvert for Consolidation -
Manually rebuilding server environments is laborious, requiring intimate system knowledge and extensive testing. With a simple drag and drop, PlateSpin PowerConvert for Consolidation creates and configures the consolidated machine as a physical server, blade server or virtual machine. Files are copied directly from the source to the target, automatically updating the drivers and system files in the process. You can change host names, IP addresses, select which drives to copy and even resize them in the process, all from a single point of control.

PowerConvert for Recovery -
Data center managers are challenged with instituting and managing business continuity plans. The most common plans are built around backup products such as tape and disk based file backup, or live imaging technology. Though reliable and trusted, these traditional solutions do not fully address the recovery needs in the data center. They either include restoring backups or images to like hardware, or rebuilding a system and restoring data from tape. Business continuity plans in today’s data center must be more flexible, and not require a recovery infrastructure that is an exact duplicate of the production environment as it is far too costly too maintain.
